  Melissa
The coach and leader of S.M.R., Melissa brings with her 20 years in the hospitality industry.  Much of her career has been spent with the Embassy Suites brand.  Starting as a Sales Manager with the Embassy Suites Hotel, Arcadia, CA in 1990, Melissa quickly moved to Director of Sales of Embassy Suites Hotel - LAX North.  Keeping an eye on the prize, Melissa was determined to join the then Promus Hotels Corporate team.  Melissa was Memphis bound and after a short stint as Special Events Director for Hilton Central Reservations, Melissa was promoted to Director of Revenue Management for the Embassy Suites Brand.  A true split brain, Melissa parlayed her Revenue Management expertise and brought that skill set to her next assignment, Hotel Performance Support Director.  Supporting 35 Hotels in the disciplines of Sales, Marketing and Revenue Management, Melissa assisted teams in increasing revpar, improving revenue management skills and using the brand's tools.  High energy, she leaves no stone unturned, is resourceful, strategic and focused.  Today, she is involved in every S.M.R. project as well as company operations, marketing and recruitment of the best talent in the industry to be a part of the S.M.R. Ambassador team.

  Laura
Based in Portland, Oregon Laura started her career over 25 years ago as a Sales Assistant for a small suburban St. Louis hotel.  She quickly discovered the countless opportunities that the hotel industry had to offer, working in a variety of markets all over the country and hotel types - from Convention, Destination, Resort, Business, Boutique.  With the addition of managing multiple brands in different markets, managing and developing cluster Sales forces, her growth went from Director of Sales and Marketing to Regional Director of Sales and Marketing.  Her experiences helped her excel in developing and managing a successful sales force.  Realizing that a strong team comes from diverse talent, she has been successful in repositioning entire sales teams and processes to result in an almost immediate increase of the Group Department's revenue.  She has demonstrated her leadership by embracing Revenue Management balancing it equally with the sales and marketing effort.  Marketing is a critical component to Laura, her creativity allows her to reveal creative marketing concepts and an "out of the box" approach to generating new revenue in all markets and environments.

  Beth

With over 20 years of hospitality experience spent in Atlanta, GA, Beth knows first-hand, challenging urban markets and what it takes to move share.  Starting her career with Marriott Perimeter Center as Sales Assistant in 1988, Beth found her passion and was hooked!  Upward and onward, Beth successfully held the positions of Sales Manager, Associate Director of Sales Business Travel and ultimately Complex Director of Sales for properties the likes of Embassy Suites Atlanta Buckhead, Hotel Nikko Atlanta, Swissotel Atlanta and finally, a consolidated sales effort between Embassy Suites Atlanta Centennial Olympic Park and Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta Downtown.  Savvy in building and maintaining relationships, developing strategic action plans and using tools, time and time again, Beth has exceed budget, built solid teams and contributed greatly to overall hotel performance and REVPAR achievement.

  Judy

Based in Portland, Oregon, Judy has over 20 years of experience leading the charge for luxury and upscale properties.  After having spent much of her early career in property specific assignments such as Director of Sales for Red Lion Hotels and Kimpton Hotel Group,  Judy took the leap of faith and joined Hilton Hotels Corporation in the role of Area Director of Sales, Corporate markets supporting Embassy Suites Portland Downtown, (add other locations.) Wanting to expand her resume, Judy left Hilton to open Hotel Lucia, a cutting edge boutique hotel in Portland.  Judy wastes no time when going after accounts as she goes straight to the key decision makers.  Resourceful and creative, Judy’s keen selling ability allows her to develop long lasting relationships based on trust.

  Michael 

Michael brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to S.M.R in the areas of sales, marketing and training.  His 17 year tenure with Hilton Hotels incorporates stints at both Embassy Suites and Doubletree brands.  Michael has led the sale charge at large properties in exciting markets such as Doubletree Horton Plaza and Doubletree New Orleans.  His association with Embassy Suites includes his spearheading the sales efforts at Embassy Suites Palm Desert, San Diego Bay and Cincinnati, N.E.  Michael is a Certified Meetings Professional, past president of HSMAI, Los Angeles Chapter and prior member of the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau Marketing Committee. 

  Beverly

Bev’s east coast accent might lead you to believe that she is based in the Northeast!  Not the case, Bev too is a resident of the Rose City, Portland, Oregon.  Beverly jumped right in and began her career as Director of Sales with Red Lion, Astoria, Oregon in 1999.  With Bev at the helm, the hotel received Red Lion’s Highest Rev Par Award for 2000 and had the best hotel revenue in 10 years.  In addition to her stint in Astoria, Bev led the sales efforts at both Red Lion Salem and Sacramento.  In 2004, Bev switched brands and joined the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Lake Oswego, OR.  After a successful run, she was recruited by a competitor hotel, Hilton Garden Inn Lake Oswego.  Beverly’s specialty is direct sales, with an expertise in SMERF and Tour and Travel. 

  Sharon  

A resident of Glendale, AZ, Sharon compliments the S.M.R. team with both property level and regional assignments with Renaissance and Wyndham Hotels. She began her career in 1993 in the role of Express Meetings Manager with a short stint as Catering Sales Manager.  Sharon expanded her reach by joining the Sheraton Astrodome team as Senior Sales Manager, handling SMERF and government markets.  Sharon was directly responsible for generating $3.8 million in revenue and exceeding her revenue goals by $821,000.00.  Her hard work paid off professionally as Sharon was awarded Sales Manager of the Year for Multi-brands – Wyndham International.  A natural progression for Sharon, she moved into the role of Regional Director of Sales and Task Force Director of Sales for Performance Hospitality Management, a division of Wyndham International.  She brings a high level of expertise, use of tools and creative marketing campaigns to the S.M.R. team.

  Candice 

Candice joins our team with an impressive stint with both the Embassy Suites and Doubletree Hotel brands.  Based in Cleveland, OH, Candice began her career in 1994, as a Guest Services Representative with Doubletree Guest Suites, Chicago –Downtown.  Deciding that sales was the route to take; she launched her successful hotel sales career as Sales Manager with Embassy Suites Hotel Cleveland - Beachwood, where she was responsible for Corporate/IBT, Association, Government and SMERF market segments. Her outstanding performance in this role promoted her to Director of Sales for Embassy Suites Hotel Cleveland – Downtown.  Candice was selected as the Sales and Revenue cluster lead for her region and achieved a perfect score on Hilton’s Revenue Management Certification program exam.   Professional and enthusiastic, Candice brings drive and focus in all that she does.
